I hope you had a wonderful summer! I spent time doing lots of things, camping on the beach in southern Oregon was awesome! There were other good things as well. That same trip we also camped in the redwoods for 3 days. It rained for 30 hours in a row... my friends and I are Idaho kids so we wussed out and got a hotel one night. In addition to being dry overnight, we got to catch the US vs Germany World Cup game the next morning... this was the only game I had time to watch. Have you or your family ever changed plans in the middle? Why was it good or at least memorable?
This year, I have two major goals. The first goal is to get back on top of the website. Please check here for info when you have forgotten assignments or are curious about what we are working on in class. Goal number two is that we work hard on discourse. This means that I plan to ask you to communicate regularly with your peers, me, and your family about math and its purpose in the world. One way to urge this communication is that I plan to ask questions (this week's in red and above) in this blog every week. Please respond to them in the comments. Please read each other's responses and respond to your peers as well. Be polite and let's try to build some community!
