Friday - Chapter 1 Test
I'm thinking I was maybe a little cruel when I wrote this schedule. We may go off schedule this week but I think you three can do it!
Our MAP days have moved to Thursday and Friday which means we will be finishing up Distance Formula on Tuesday. Tuesday 9/2 - Distance and Midpoint - Foldable, p23 #1,2,3,7,8 Wednesday 9/3 - Distance/Midpt/Building Blocks Quiz - start Measure and Classify Angles p28 #1,25,32-38,42 Thursday 9/4 - MAP Test Friday 9/5 - MAP Test Don't forget to check the Alg 1 site for this week's question! This week we will start chapter one. Hopefully it will be review for you most of the week but we are definitely going to go deeper into these topics than you have before.
Monday: Identify Points, Lines and Plans - p5 #1-15, 27-30, 36, 38, 39ab Tuesday: Use Segments and Congruence - answer the following questions 1. What are congruent segments? 2. How is the statement "segment AB is congruent to segment CD" different than the statement "AB = CD"? 3. Do p12 #12 and p13 #28-31 Wednesday: Simplify Radicals - describe the real numbers and worksheet Thursday: Pythagorean Theorem and Exact Answers - worksheet Friday: Midpoint and Distance Formulas - p19 #16, 22-26, 53 Yea! It's done. There is officially a Geometry class at EVMS again this year! As we progress this year, please let me know if there is anything I can do to make your learning experience better. With a class as small as yours (3!) you are going to have to be independent yet collaborative learners. I am sure you are up to the challenge! As you scope out the schedule below please notice that the last week of the quarter is empty. I left this as a cushion but also so that we could supplement with some interesting extracurricular mathematics also. If there is something, math related, you would like to study, please let me know (preferably as soon as possible so I can prepare) and we will do what we can to have REALLY interesting work that week. During 2nd, 3rd and 4th quarter I will try to do the same thing but I may instead choose to use those weeks for more teacher directed research/projects. I look forward to seeing you next week. Please remember to show me lots of patience as I adjust to teaching two classes simultaneously! :)
Behind again!
I need to stop letting you all drag me off task. Monday - Chapter 5 Test Tuesday - Midsegment Thm and Coordinate Proofs p298 #4-10, 13, 17, 18, 20, 22, 26, 27, 37, 43 Wednesday - Use Perpendicular Bisectors Study Guide and p306#1-8, 9, 13-16, 20-22, 25, 27, 28 Thursday - Use Angle Bisectors of Trianglges - p313 #1,2,5,8,11,14,19-20, 21-22, 24,25,27, 30, 32, 33, 37 Friday - Review 5.1-5.3 p317 #1-7 Monday -- Quiz 4.1-4.6
Tuesday -- 4.7 Equilateral Triangles - Pp267 #8-12, 14, 20, 25, 41, 42 Wednesday -- 4.8 Congruence Transformations P276 #2-5, 13, 14, 24, 40, 41 Thursday -- Review Chapter 4 -- study last week's worksheet and look at pages 282-285 Friday -- Chapter 4 Test I said that you would be teaching each other about Chapter 5 but I don't think that's a great idea. The current plan is that I will assign sections from Chapter 6 at the end of next week. We will for sure complete Chapter 6 by the end of the quarter and possibly What a week! We now have 8 students! Woot! Welcome Irina!
Thanks to a grant from Capital Educators CU, we also will soon be spending time in the computer lab learning about the game Green Globs and spending even more time practicing graphing lines. Try to contain your excitement! :) Since all of you will be attending Model Student Morning on Friday, I will be postponing Friday's quiz until Monday -- you lucky ducks get the weekend to study! Next week I will be assigning sections and groups for teaching lessons from chapter 5. You will have a rubric to follow but you and your partner will be responsible for: 1. teaching the lesson 2. planning the homework assignment 3. writing questions from that section for the quiz. I'm excited, I hope this experiment works! We finally have a syllabus! I'm sure it will change -- a LOT. But for now, you are welcome to access this whenever. Still working on the book online. Click on the title of this entry to access the Syllabus. |
